Hey loves, hope you’re all staying safe and taking social distancing very seriously. It’s better to be safe than sorry. If you follow me on instagram you will notice most of my content is created indoors. That’s mainly because I’m a freelancer and work from home a lot.We are all anxiously waiting for some good news on the COVID-19 pandemic and to know how soon we can go back to our regularly scheduled lives.

I know being indoors for days can leave you wondering what to do with yourself. Getting into a rhythm or routine can actually make it easier to keep yourself occupied with things that matter because the devil finds work for idle hands. If you’re not sure how to stay productive while indoors, I have come up with a few ideas to help.
- CLEANING AND EDITING YOUR CLOSET
Getting rid of clothes can be very hard. I like to think of it as making more space for pieces that fit me better and also reflect my personal style goals. Keeping an organised closet has become such a priority for me after my closet sale a few months ago because I realised it made getting dressed easier. I grouped my things into 3 parts; the keeper, the donation and then the sale. When you’re cleaning out your closet it’s best to ask yourself a few questions and be honest with it. I always start by pulling everything and grouping similar items which allows me to take stock of what I have. If it’s not in good shape, make me feel great or doesn’t play well with the rest of my wardrobe then I’m definitely taking it out. If there are certain pieces that I do not reach out for anymore because it no longer fits my style, I’ll let it go.
2. ORGANISE YOUR MAKEUP AND CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES
It’s time to get rid of all those products you’ve had in your kit for over 2 years, you know it has expired. Let it go as it can be harmful to your skin. Besides the 2 years and over makeup, there’s also those products you never in a million years reach out to when it comes to your daily routine. Most importantly wash those makeup brushes.
3. SELF CARE
This has easily become one of my favourite things to do at home. I’ve been trying to take better care of my skin by spending more time on at-home/DIY facial mask regularly. I recently added turmeric and honey to my bentonite clay mask routine and its been amazing. Also try out some hair masks and a little manicure and pedicure at home. It’s actually very relaxing.
4. WORK ON THAT PLAN
If you’ve thought of starting a new business venture, now is the best time to plan and develop it. Since most of my work has been put on hold I revisited my to-do list of business ventures I would like to dive into and I have been able to do quite a number of research to help.
5. EAT HEALTHY
This is the best time to eat healthy. Usually when I go out I’m tempted to try all sorts of things but now that I’m stuck indoors I want to make a conscious effort to eat my fruits and vegetables and also foods that boost my immune system. I’ve gotten a few recipe ideas through @nanakonamah and @bestbodybybry on instagram. They always share recipes on healthy juices and foods you can make at home to boost your immune system.
6. READ A BOOK
I’m not that much of a reader but I have made an attempt to read a few interesting books. Read one of the books from a favourite ZANE. Currently I’m on ” The subtle art of not giving a fuck” and I relate so much to it. You can also try audiobooks as well.
7. NETFLIX AND CHILL
I think this goes without saying. Just finished NEXT IN FASHION. Currently I’m watching SELFMADE which is inspired by the life of Madam CJ Walker, an African American washerwoman who rises from poverty to build a beauty empire and become the first female self-made millionaire. This is based on a true story. I’ve been so hooked on this one. Super inspiring!!
8. EXERCISE AT HOME
With all the food and Netflix and chill you’re most likely to put on weight without even realising so it is very important to keep in shape as it also contributes to your health.
9. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE
I studied at Alliance Francaise for a year before I started university. My French is a bit crusty but I’m starting all over again. This should be fun. I’m using duolingo to learn. It is FREE!!
10. YOGA
I’ve always been curious about it and wanted to try it but never started. In times like this I think it’s best for me to just start so it not only helps me to keep in shape but also help with my mental state. There are so many free walk through yoga sessions on youtube that you can try.
